JOB SUMMARY:

Preferred CFO is an outsourced/fractional CFO firm providing premium finance and accounting assistance to growing and emerging companies.  We are seeking a dynamic and accomplished individual to assume the outsourced controllership position for a select group of our existing clients.  This position delivers part-time/outsourced controller services to a variety of companies simultaneously. Being a key team member at several different clients provides the controller with broad exposure to different businesses, management styles, and best practices.  As a trusted advisor to the executive management teams within these companies, the controller is expected to oversee the tactical finance and accounting function within the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting work of the accountant assigned to the client
  • Maintain general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Complete the month-end close workbook for each client on a timely basis (i.e. no later than the 10th day after month end)
  • Reconcile all balance sheet and income statement accounts as part of the monthly close process
  • Assist the assigned CFO with the monthly reporting package
  • Prepare and record general journal entries, primarily for more complex accounting areas or areas involving judgment and estimates (i.e. revenue recognition)
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients and other stakeholders
  • Provide leadership and support to junior accountants
  • Report risk issues and potential opportunities to the assigned CFO
  • Suggest and implement operational best practices within the finance and accounting department
  • Employ good sound judgment and become a trusted advisor within the company
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures
  • Generate qualified leads for future engagements by networking with other professional trusted advisors

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, CPA, MBA or MAcc a plus
  • QuickBooks Certified (within 90 days of hire)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skill required
  • Bill.com and Expensify experience a plus
  • Strong and verifiable technical accounting skills
  • Ability to plan, direct and control the tactical accounting function for multiple client companies at any given time
  • A decisive individual who possesses a “big picture” perspective and is well versed in implementing and maintaining effective accounting controls and systems
  • Ability to analyze existing operations and recommend and implement both revised and new policies, procedures and systems
  • Willing to travel to local and regional client locations (out-of-state travel is very limited)
  • Exceptional ability to motivate, coach and develop junior accounting professionals
  • Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present reports accurately and concisely to the assigned CFO and/or executive management team

JOB SUMMARY:

Preferred CFO is an outsourced/fractional CFO firm providing premium finance and accounting assistance to growing and emerging companies.  We are seeking an experienced staff accountant to assist with and manage the day-to-day accounting responsibilities for a select group of our existing clients.  This position delivers part-time/outsourced accounting services to a variety of companies simultaneously. Being a key team member at several different clients provides the accountant with broad exposure to different businesses, management styles, and best practices.  As a trusted team member, the accountant is expected to accurately manage and process the tactical accounting entries and reconciliations on a timely basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • General journal entries’record general journal entries as required (i.e. fixed asset depreciation, accrued interest, prepaid amortization, etc.)
  • Accounts payable’accurately create vendor bills and record payments on a timely basis (i.e. daily)
  • Accounts receivable’create invoices and apply payments on a timely basis (i.e. daily)
  • Payroll’work with third-party payroll providers to record payroll transactions
  • Cash’record all activity in client’s bank accounts in the accounting system on a timely basis (i.e. daily)
  • Reconcile all bank accounts as part of the monthly close process on a timely basis (i.e. no more than five days after month end)
  • Sales and use tax’calculate quarterly payments and file with state agencies
  • Property tax’calculate annual payments and file with state agencies
  • Vendor 1099’prepare and send annual 1099 vendor statements
  • Provide AR Aging reports to clients on a weekly basis
  • Provide AP Aging reports to clients on a weekly basis
  • Assist controller as required with month-end account reconciliations
  • Maintain general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Assist the controller with the month-end close workbook for each client on a timely basis (i.e. no later than the 10th day after month end)

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT (Salem, Utah - Remote)

JOB SUMMARY:

As a member of the support staff team, the Executive Assistant provides seamless administrative support to the professionals on the executive and operations team, who are also working from remote home offices. The assistant will be responsible for multiple admin projects, working both collaboratively and independently to plan and complete assigned tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist team members with day-to-day administrative tasks and the coordination of project activities as needed
  2. Coordinate and manage the logistics for events, webinars, meetings and tradeshows
  3. Act as a virtual receptionist and first point of contact for incoming calls and assist the executives with calendar management as needed
  4. Independently manage multiple ongoing projects at any given time
  5. Regularly input contact and company data into the company’s CRM
  6. Produce clear and concise written correspondence/notes in the form of letters, meeting minutes, and emails as needed
  7. Develop and maintain a system that alerts to upcoming deadlines on incoming requests or events
  8. Be willing to occasionally travel locally along the Wasatch Front to accomplish assigned tasks
  9. Additional duties, assignments, and special projects as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Prior experience assisting multiple executives for an extended period of time preferred
  2. Comfortable and willing to use remote communications and collaboration technologies (Zoom, etc.)
  3. Excellent organizational and time-management skills and an ability to prioritize effectively
  4. Ability to learn quickly and change direction on short notice
  5. Proactive work ethic with sound judgment skills and an ability to work with minimal supervision
  6. Solid Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills with intermediate Excel skills
